It is cold out there. You don’t know if you should go for a run. Here is something that might help you decide. Below is a chart which tells you how cold it feels when it is windy out. Across the top is wind in miles per hour, and down the side is the temperature on you thermometer. By crossing the two you can see how cold it feels out there.

Wind chill Factor - Based on Wind in Miles per hour

ActualTemp (degrees F) Wind (miles per hour)

50 48 40 36 32 30 28 27 26
40 37 28 22 18 16 13 11 10

20 16 4 -5 -10 -15 -18 -20 -21
10 6 -9 -18 -25 -29 -33 -35 -37

-10 -15 -33 -45 -53 -59 -63 -67 -69

-30 -36 -58 -72 -82 -87 -94 -98 -102

If properly dressed, it is safe to run in temperatures as low as negative numbers, but if you are going to do this make sure to wear heavy gloves, a hat, and warm clothes. New drylete technology will keep your skin dry by wicking moisture of your skin and is recommended. However it is crucial that you keep your extremities covered. If after ten minutes of running your are still felling freezing, consider turning back, there is no glory in becoming a frostbitten popsicle. Be sure to check out our tips section for a list of cold running weather tips to keep you safe. Have a good run!
