Martathon Packing List

By
Art Liberman

of State of the Art Marathon Training

Keep in mind that the list of possible items is not all-inclusive. Factors such as weather conditions, food preferences, etc. are quite variable. Nevertheless, refer to the list that follows as an aid in helping you organize and pack essential items for the marathon.

Possible Clothing Items for the Race
  • Singlet
  • Shorts
  • Jog-Bra
  • Socks *
  • Shoes *
  • Gloves **
  • Hat **
  • T-Shirt (Long and Short Sleeve) **
  • Sweat Shirt **
  • Tights **
  • Warm-Ups (Jacket and Long Pants)
  • * If traveling to the race by air, pack these as "carry on" luggage. Many runners have been left stranded in the past because shoes and socks were packed inside luggage that was delayed or lost by the airline.

** Optional items to wear prior to, or during the marathon. Consider bringing some clothing that you can discard during the race after you warm up.

A final note: Always bring a full range of clothing if traveling out of town to race. Weather can oftentimes be unpredictable...so be prepared for anything.
