1. What are some of your goals for the upcoming year?

My one true goal is to qualify for the Olympic Trials. Everyone who goes to the Trials wants to make the team. You can add me to the list. Like most Track and Field athletes, I dream about being an Olympian.

2. What is your favorite workout?

My very favorite workout is definitely speed related. When it gets close to peak performance season, I like to run a workout with a combination of 300m and 200m with a lot of rest and very fast. Because of the difficulty of each, I wouldn't exceed 3.

3. What factors do you attribute to your success?

Probably my brother kicking my ass on a regular basis both on the track and off. It was only at the college level that I was finally been able to beat him, again both on the track and off.

4. What is your training philosophy?

My philosophy is don't take it too seriously. You have to be dedicated, and you've got to give it 100 percent, but you can't let it run your life. I love to surf and hang out with friends, so I try to do those things when I can. Focusing on track 24-7 is a sure breaker for me.

5. Do you have any advice that may help other runners reach their potential?

Work hard, but don't work too hard. If you burn yourself out quickly, you're done. For recreational runners, don't run all the time. Play other sports, ride bikes, and for Heaven's sake-- stay off the treadmill! Get outside. Enjoy nature and fresh air. Turn off the TV and the Radio and listen to life!
