Sprint Lift

Sprint Lift

The sprint lift is the technique you will often seen used in the latter stage of a race, often apparent when sprinters come off the bend in the 200 meters.   The sprinter straightens up into a strong and tall sprint kick, which is continued down the straightaway.  It requires a great deal of strength, flexibility, and highly refined sprint technique.  To perfect your sprint lift, stress the following:

  • Tall posture.  Run tall and forcefully, yet relaxed.

  • Shoulders should be square with the direction of sprinting.

  • Head kept level with the chin down.

  • Arms working strongly through their full range of motion.

  • Relaxed, but still fast.  You want to be light and quick on your toes.

  • Run as if on "hot coals".  Be fast and active.
